International Animation Day 2009
A day dedicated to animation cinema in the whole world

On Wednesday 28th October 2009 a celebration of animation cinema, called International Animation Day (IAD) takes place thanks to ASIFA International in several countries of the world (this date has been chosen in honour of the first public screening of the "theatre optique" by Emile Reynaud, on 28th October 1892 in Paris). Cartoon Club participates to this celebration with three events.

In the afternoon of Sunday 25th October, we are paying a tribute to the art of Hayao Miyazaki and screening Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea at the Supercinema theatre in Santarcangelo, at 14.45 and 17.30 (entry fee € 5,00 for adults and € 4,00 for children).

Again Sunday 25th October, once more the genius of Miyazaki with My Neighbour Totoro at the Cinema Teatro Tiberio in Rimini, at 14.30 and 17.00 (entry fee € 5,00 for adults and € 4,00 for children).

In the morning of Wednesday 28th October, at the Cineteca di Rimini (via Gambalunga, 27), meetings and screenings of short animated films for the children of primary schools, at 9:30 and at 11:00 (free entry).

About 30 countries are participating to the 2009 edition of the IAD. The poster of this year has been drawn by the American artist Nina Paley, awarded at the 2008 Annecy Festival for her animation film Sita Sings the Blues.

In this event, partners of Cartoon Club are the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Chieri,the Scuola Internazionale di Comics di Roma, Antoniano Productions and Asifa Italia.
