CARTOON CLUB AT THE CIVIC MUSEUM
Civic Museum, Via Tonini 1 – Rimini (free entry)

A glance at European cinema. The traditional location of the City Museum of Rimini, one of the main places of Cartoon Club, will pay attention this year to European animation with two movies that are already two small classics of the genre.
The first one is Valiant, a funny British production created  from real episodes from the Second World War, with pigeons receiving medals for military valour for their exploits, and the second one is Aida degli Alberi by Guido Manuli, the movie inspired by Verdi’s Aida. This is a Lanterna Magica production and it is the first animated Italian film feature that constantly uses digital systems.
This double choice matches with Cartoon Club’s artistic coordinates. Since its beginning, the Festival has always made an effort to give great visibility to animated productions coming from Europe, so to become an indispensable and necessary window where the public can see and rediscover animated works that have not been highly considered by the big audiences, for lack of trust from distributors and retailers.

The Rimini festival then has the task to recover and propose these works, mixing them with the art masterpieces in the Rimini Museum halls. Such works represent a vitality never ceased in the European animation field, and that can count on a thick catalogue full of novelties and works from film libraries. Every year Cartoon Club chooses patiently some of the best ones, in order to propose them to the big public of all ages coming to see the screenings.
